An easy scenic mountain day trip with waterfalls, roadside stops, coffee, and a surprisingly great small-town lunch stop.

If you have a capable vehicle or 4-wheel drive, there are several forest and side roads in the area worth exploring.

Some routes to look into:

- Index-Galena Road (FS Road 63)
- Beckler Road (NF-65)
- Old Cascade Highway

These roads offer:

- forest scenery
- river access
- mountain views
- quieter exploration away from Highway 2
